New Illinois Informational Meeting — October 3 in Lindenhurst

Could a new state be financially feasible? Is the process constitutional? And what could it mean for communities outside Chicago and Cook County?

New Illinois invites area residents to an upcoming informational meeting to learn more about the movement and its effort to pursue the formation of a new state through the process outlined in Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution. New Illinois describes itself as a nonpartisan nonprofit focused on educating Illinoisans about that constitutional process.

The meeting will explore some of the biggest questions surrounding the New Illinois proposal, including financial feasibility, the constitutional process, representation in state government, and whether a state split could benefit both Chicago and communities throughout the rest of Illinois.
